As CLP’s patent librarian, it’s not too surprising to discover that I love learning about intellectual property issues. It seems like the more I learn, the more there is to know. Intellectual property is fascinating, but there’s a reason that you have to go to law school to learn its ins and outs– it can be a complicated business. CLP is a Patent and Trademark Resource Center, which means that we have staff who can help you get your patent or trademark search off the ground, we can point you in the right direction for more advanced searches, and we can find you the best resources for your project.
What we can’t do is provide legal advice, but on September 20 we’ll try to help you out with that as well! Join us that evening to hear what a local attorney has to say about patents, tradmarks, and copyright, and bring your questions. The main portion of the program will be devoted to answering what you want to know, whether you have questions on the basic steps required to obtain a patent, are interested in the intricacies of software copyright, or want to hear about intellectual property theft.
Ask a Patent Attorney will be taking place at CLP Main on Thursday, September 20, from 6:30-7:30. You can register here, or contact us for more information.
